CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING MATERIALS

Weekly research-in-progress meetings

For 3 hours every Monday, scholars present their research ideas and proposals in development which are discussed extensively, and input provided by team members. Mentorship is provided by faculty members who have written previously successful proposals and leverage on their experiences to fine-tune ideas and proposals under discussion. We have tracked the progress of this program over three years among 45 scholars. We have identified gaps in the professional knowledge and skills detailed in the gap section below.

Monthly Webinars

Monthly webinars are made available for researchers across Nigeria and the West African sub-region which has consistently attracted 300 to 500 participants from across Africa and the United States. During these webinars, UNN-CTAIR brings experts from various institutions including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institutes (NCI), Fogarty International Center (FIC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and US Universities, to present different aspects of research and grant proposal development.

The research week is a week-long capacity-building event featuring faculties from institutions in the United States and other parts of the world. Samples of the curriculum are available on our website www.ctair.org.
