In the last 10 years, Tonia has worked for the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Nigeria, where he served at different mid-and senior-level positions and on various government-and donor-funded HIV programs. In these positions, his tasks included: program management; developing implementation strategies of HIV service delivery, development of policy, strategic frameworks, clinical guidelines, and standard operating procedures; and providing technical assistance on health systems strengthening for a sustainable HIV response. His research has largely been motivated by health and health care disparities where he has experience professionally as a clinician and technical manager in Nigeria. He is interested in promoting and improving the health and well-being of women, children, and other marginalized populations through applied research.
