Palliative care and cancer screening integration

3 Active Projects
2 Team Members

Our Objective

To reduce the burden of cervical cancer in Nigeria by integrating screening and treatment into existing HIV care platforms, closing a critical service gap for women living with HIV.

Our Vision

An Africa where no woman dies of a preventable cancer because the health system around her was not built to catch it early.

Mode of Operation

SOAR embeds cervical cancer screening and palliative care services within primary and secondary HIV care facilities, testing culturally adapted delivery models with the populations they are designed for, then scaling what proves feasible and acceptable across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

About SOAR

SOAR conducts applied oncology research focused on early cancer screening, palliative care access, and integrating oncology services into existing primary health infrastructure.

In practice, this means a woman visiting an HIV clinic can be screened for cervical cancer in the same visit, by the same care team, instead of being referred elsewhere and lost to follow-up.
