Wellcome's PhD Programmes for Health Professionals offer health professionals outstanding research training in supportive and inclusive research environments.

Who Can Apply

  • Registered health professionals with the potential to pursue a career as an academic health professional, including doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals, clinical psychologists, healthcare scientists and vets.
  • The programmes are based at UK centres of excellence and each sets its own eligibility requirements.
  • Apply directly to the relevant university PhD programme, not to Wellcome.
  • Funding for a PhD outside these programmes is not available through this scheme.
