Sexual partners of women living with HIV in Nigeria often lack awareness of their partner's HIV status, limiting opportunities for prevention and care engagement. This study surveyed 6,655 women receiving HIV treatment in North-Central Nigeria to examine correlates of partner awareness of serostatus using regression analysis. Married women's partners had significantly greater odds of being aware of their spouse's status (adjusted OR 3.20) compared with partners of unmarried women, and awareness increased with longer duration of the woman's antiretroviral therapy, reaching a probability of 97% among married women's partners. Education improved communication of status, while unemployment and trading reduced it relative to farming. The authors conclude that relationship status and girl-child education can improve HIV status communication, recommending interventions that address these social determinants to support disclosure and reduce transmission.
