Digital health technologies and artificial intelligence tools are beginning to transform healthcare delivery across sub-Saharan Africa, a region facing a rising burden of non-communicable disease in which cardiovascular disease accounts for the largest share. This article reviews the digital health technology landscape in sub-Saharan Africa and examines how these tools can accelerate healthcare transformation and improve delivery, with a focus on their potential applications in cardiovascular medicine. The authors discuss opportunities for digital technologies to expand access, strengthen diagnosis and monitoring, and address systemic gaps in cardiovascular care across the region, while highlighting the infrastructural and implementation challenges that must be addressed for these tools to achieve their potential impact on outcomes in low-resource settings.
